Cortisol is a horomone that is produced by the adrenal glands that sit atop the kidneys. Cortisol is known as the stress hormone or death hormone. It may hold the secret to stop accelerated aging. We know that the hormone increases with age. The hormone is produced by the body to deal with rampant stress. If produced in excess, harmful side effects occur. Constant high levels prevent growth hormones, testosterone and estrogen from functioning properly. Some of the results of excess cortisol are:
- Impaired Immunity
- Teoporosis
- Increased Abdominal fat
- Impaired learning or memory
- Reduced glucose utlization
- Reduced growth hormone
